Mobile DJ’s/Musicians

Having a Portable Appliance Test carried on your precious musical and sound equipment has been for some time a pre-requisite of a lot of venues, especially Local authority venues. Most venues now insist that your gear is tested before they’ll allow you to play. As a musician and DJ myself, I understand both your disinterest in PAT testing and how much you value your equipment. I also know how to test it and look after it. By contacting J C Pat Testing, we can come and test your gear – for a very reasonable cost.

Landlords/Property Maintenance

Landlords should be aware that local councils may require PAT testing to be carried out in rental properties. PAT testing is also legally required for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs).

Conducting a PAT test is an excellent way to prove that you comply with your legal obligations as a landlord. Health and safety authorities also consider PAT testing the best practice for landlords.

Fire prevention is also a good reason for landlord PAT testing. More than 27,200 fires occurred in the UK in residential dwellings in 2022, according to government figures. Sparks from faulty electrical appliances often cause fires in domestic dwellings. PAT testing dramatically reduces the risk of fire from faulty appliances.

Shops/Retail

From Epos Systems to standard tills that are used by employees to electrical appliances that you give to your customers as a hassle free shopping experience, such as mounted tablet devices or self checkout scanning equipment, or even demo appliances, it is important that they remain safe to use and fully compliant with UK Health and Safety regulations.

Offices

The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) state all electrical equipment that could cause injury is maintained in a safe condition.

Being proactive in your approach to electrical safety not only makes your office safer, but gives your staff assurance that you take their safety seriously.

Regular PAT testing in offices is the best way to keep your staff and premises safe. You would do this on all electrical appliances in your office.

Care/Residential Homes

PAT testing plays a vital role in keeping care homes safe. In places where vulnerable people live, faulty electrical equipment can be dangerous. Regular testing helps identify potential risks early and prevents accidents, making care homes safer for residents and staff alike.

By regularly testing appliances, care homes can reduce the risk of electrical fires or shocks. It’s a simple step that protects lives and brings peace of mind.
